The Cumby 2023 is coming! New routes, new Race Central but same amazing committment to the work of the CCFS! We are so grateful to the Cumby for their ongoing commitment to raising funds for the Cumberland Community Forest and the work that they do on behalf of all of us in saving forest lands and protecting watersheds. With your help, The Cumby provided $34,000 last year to help meet the targets to purchase 44 acres in the Lower Perseverance Corridor. This corridor links the lands of the Cumberland Community Forest Park with protected lands at Comox Lake! The Cumby is pleased to be identified as a Forest Guardian. Total donations over these last 8 years in spite of 2 years of a pandemic = $134,000. Wow.

HERE are the DETAILS!

You can count on the Cumby to change the route every year. This one is the very best. The Cumberland Hills always provide a lot of well…hills, but our route this year is completely runnable. The start of the race will provide for competitors to spread out before heading up…you know, a hill. We are even taking advantage of the newest UROC built climbing trail, Red Tape, all the way to Nikkei Mountain. Our very first race in 2016 saw racers atop Nikkei, we decided it was time to return. The end for all 3 races will be flat and fast.

We are excited to offer three different running challenges for you to choose from:
Quarter Cumby – 7 km
Half Cumby – 15 km
Full Cumby – 25 km

Also NEW this year is the location for Race Central. This year all three races will start at Village Park in Cumberland, BC. We are excited for you to check out our new start and finish area amongst the great stand of Douglas and Grand Firs located between the baseball diamond and the BMX parking lot.

Our organizing committee is very eager to welcome youth and families to our races and particularly to our 7 km race. We keep the registration fees low for all youth under 19 years for the Quarter Cumby. Please contact the race director if you have ideas about how to increase the numbers of youth in our race. We are committed to supporting the next generation of trail runners and racers.

Can’t wait to see you in person on May 6, 2023! Registration opens on February 9th at 6 AM. Early bird registration prices February 9, 10, 11th just in time to send someone a Valentine’s gift; an entry to the Cumby.

Join the CCFS in Cumberland’s annual Victoria Day Parade! Forest friends of all ages are welcome to dress up and join the fun in our walking entry. Fairies, furry forest folks, toads, owls, bats, Perseverance Dragon Operators, and Ursula the Bear Wranglers. We meet at the corer of 1st and Penrith Monday AM at 9:30 to be ready to go for 10 am. STAY TUNED for our special theme for 2023.
