The ancestry of the K’ómoks Nation is from three distinct Indigenous peoples – the K’ómoks, the Pentlatch, and Hahamatsees/Walitsma. We are grateful to these original stewards of the land. We are committed to working with the K’ómoks First Nation in our land protection activities, and to assessing all our work through a reconciliation lens. Our work of reconciliation is guided by United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, and the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s calls to action.
We acknowledge that reconciliation takes time, and we are committed to ongoing improvement of our organizational practices to acknowledge and respect the integral relationship that the K’ómoks First Nation has with the land and water in the Comox Valley.
