In the Waterloo Creek area, we will explore a rare, majestic old forest—one of the last mature stands of Grand-fir trees on the east side of Vancouver Island. This forest features some of the island’s largest Grand-firs, along with a massive Douglas-fir.
Join Comox Valley Nature for a guided walk through the Vanier Garry oak groves, a unique natural area tucked into the heart of Courtenay.
Join Laura Ann O’Brien for a special walk through the Merville section of the trail, beginning at Fitzgerald Road and continuing toward Spike Road Park. This 6–8 km, flat and stroller-friendly route follows the historic rail grade and introduces walkers to the newly added Spike Road Park lands — an ecologically sensitive area that includes wetlands, maturing second-growth forest, and important wildlife habitat.
