One Spot Trail – Nature Walk

August 24 @ 10:00 am 12:30 pm

Begin at the Brazier Road trailhead in rural Courtenay and follow the One Spot Trail, a former railway route once used to haul logs from local forests. Today, it offers a quiet path through second-growth woodland and farmland, blending the area’s logging heritage with its natural renewal. Along the way, we’ll be near the Tsolum River and visit one of its major tributaries, Dove Creek. This will be the last walk on the Dove Creek side of the watershed before we move to the Merville side in September.

This 6 km walk is mostly flat, shaded, and stroller-friendly. Local experts will share stories from the region’s past and present, including restoration work to protect the Tsolum River and its salmon runs. If we get enough rain beforehand, you might even spot pink salmon making their way upstream.
