Shinrin Yoku / Forest Bathing
July 22 @ 5:00 pm – 6:30 pm
Join medical herbalist Chanchal Cabrera for a contemplative walk through the qax mot Preserve, a forest whose name means “lots of medicine.” This meditative experience draws inspiration from Shinrin-yoku, the Japanese practice of forest bathing, which encourages mindful, immersive time in nature to support health and wellbeing. In this silent, slow-paced walk, Chanchal will guide participants through the forest while sharing the medicinal properties, uses, and potential risks of native plants and wild weeds.
Chanchal is a certified Shinrin-yoku practitioner and medical herbalist with over 30 years of experience. She is the former faculty chair of botanical medicine at the Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine and author of Holistic Cancer Care (2023). She teaches, writes, and runs therapy programs on her organic farm in British Columbia.
