Ecole Puntledge Park will hold the 4th Annual Salmon Day.
This rain or shine celebration of salmon will follow the previous years’ successful format, combining an after-school public event with an open house for parents and families.
Free, fun activities will include musical acts by kids, an aboriginal welcome, and smoked salmon served to everyone. Last year had an estimated 300 people on site.
There are two ways for your group to be involved:
1) As part of the after school public event, from 2:30 – 4:00.
2) As in-school presentations to classes, either during that school day or the week prior.
Again this year, we hope to also have the participation of Morrison Creek Streamkeepers (for stream tours), Project Watershed, Hand-In-Hand Early Years Nature Education, and the DFO.
This email is also going out to CV Land Trust, the Comox Valley Conservation Strategy, Youth and Ecological Restoration (YER), and Comox Valley Nature.
If at all possible, the event will be staged outdoors as before, beneath the tree canopy. There’s a short overhang on the forest side of the building for cover. Let us know if tables or tents are required. If the weather is truly miserable, we plan to locate inside.
Rather than a straight information-booth format, we suggest activities be interactive, hands-on, and oriented to the elementary age range.
We hope you can be involved in the 3rd annual Salmon Day at Ecole Puntledge Park! Please confirm your involvement with me and I’ll include your name in the poster/promo.
